When the images for Viperine first came out I laughed.
I mean, who has ever seen a pink snake?
It turns out that I needed to do my homework because the joke is on me.
Pink Vipers definitely exist and they are GORGEOUS!
The brightest genus of snake that I could find are the Bush Vipers. Some of them even change color as they grow up.
Some are born green (ahem, Deuce) and change to bright colors as they mature. Other start out red, blue, yellow or pink and become green. That sounds like a makeover to me!
Check out this fangtastic (literally) specimen, a Variable Bush Viper.
Do you notice how the Viper's scales don't look smooth or shiny?
It makes me think of the scale pattern between Viperine's eyes.
There's nothing wrong with this snake - that's exactly how Bush Vipers always look.
This style of scale is called ...
(get ready - I'm about to drop some vocabulary)
Which means they are rough, dull looking and do not lie flat.
Abbey Bominable gets her name from the Abominable Snowman, or Yeti, a mythical creature that people think lives in a mountainous country called Nepal. Are Yetis real? No one really knows, but lots of people like to look for them.
Abominable means Very Bad or Unpleasant. There are lots of other words that mean this. Take a deep breath. Ready?
