- Clawdia Wolf
There's no doubt that Clawdia Wolf does her homework as a writer.
When thinking about which pet she'd rather have, the answers that she's been thinking about a raven or an albatross.
Both of those animals are real life birds, and would make interesting pets. Even more interesting is that both of Clawdia's birds make major appearances in two of the most famous poems ever written.
They're also both totally scaretastic, spooktacular poems that will creep you out. For real. Really. Ready?
The young man is reading a book, trying to get his mind off her when a raven shows up outside his window and taps on the glass. The guy lets him in, and the raven perches on a statue in the corner of the room. The young man asks him his name and the raven squawks out "Nevermore!" which means never again.
The young man is having a bad night and he begins to feel crazy - he feels angels around him, he wonders if he will ever see Lenore again and the whole time the raven just squawks out "Nevermore!" The raven just sits there basically telling him that he'll never be able to forget, and he'll never be happy again. How depressing!
Would you want a pet that was so negative and only knew one word? Clawdia is more patient than we thought!
An albatross appears and seems to guide his ship and crew out of trouble but the mariner shoots the albatross. Some way to say thanks! The other sailors get angry with him for shooting the bird that was trying to save them and make him wear the dead albatross around his neck all the way home.
As the other sailors on the ship die one by one, the mariner seems go crazy and the albatross feels heavier and heavier around his neck. Eventually the ship sinks and the mariner is rescued, but by now he is totally crazy and feels guilty about everything that went wrong. For the rest of time he wanders the earth telling his strange and terrible story to make up for killing the albatross.
Scaretastic stuff and perfect for a ghoul like Clawdia. I wonder if she'd wear her albatross around her neck? Maybe not. The biggest albatrosses have wingspans of up to 12 feet! Maybe she'd get a baby one . . .
So, what do you think? Albatross? (See, I wasn't kidding about those wings) or Raven? I'm sure that whenever Clawdia makes her choice, it will be clawsome! Photo by Ravie |
